4 easy DIY solutions for improving skin texture

Most of us believe that healthy skin should be super smooth and flawless, the reality is anything but. Normal skin is very different from the images you are seeing on social media—it’s imperfectly perfect with pores, wrinkles, blemishes, and pigmentation.

We are all born with perfectly smooth skin and as we go through life, oil glands become active, contributing to the different appearance and rougher texture that is normal in adult skin. Other factors such as acne, dry skin, and aging can also cause uneven skin.

While there are many different professional (and costly) treatments at the beauty salons, here is what we can do to prevent and improve skin texture at home. And effectively.

1. Exfoliate regularly

This is by far the no.1 most important step to improve skin texture by helping to eliminate dead skin cells that build up on the surface and minimize the overall appearance of pores.

To achieve a smoother appearance, we can exfoliate the dead skin cells using a physical or chemical exfoliant, such as an alpha- or beta-hydroxy acid.

More details about exfoliating and the ways to it at home read in the previous blog post.

2 . Apply retinol

Retinoids found in retinol not only help prevent acne breakouts by helping to regulate skin cell turnover, but they also work to boost collagen production, which can tighten the skin and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I am a big fan of natural retinol found in Bakuchi oil which is becoming a big thing in the cosmetic industry.

From the clinical trial in 2018 study :

“Conclusions: Our study demonstrates that bakuchiol is comparable with retinol in its ability to improve photoaging and is better tolerated than retinol. Bakuchiol is promising as a more tolerable alternative to retinol.

This is why bakuchi oil is added to Jasminium booster serum.

3. Try vitamin C products

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps neutralize skin-damaging free radicals in our environment and lead to uneven texture, brown spots, and premature aging.

Incorporating vitamin C into your daily regimen can help prevent these changes that lead to an uneven skin texture.

I will once again focus on using oils rich in vitamin C to prevent skin sensitivity. If your skin tolerates well, you can use it in more concentrated products such as ampoules.

As for oils Seabuckthorn oil is an incredible source of vitamin C and is found in Jasminium booster serum.

The other oils rich in vitamin C  I would like to highlight here are rosehip and raspberry seed oil.

4. Try microneedling

If you’re really unhappy with your uneven skin texture, another at-home option is using a derma roller, a handheld tool with tiny little needles on a drum-like roller. Home micro-needling is milder than the ones used in a professional setting, so it needs regular use. If you’re looking for quicker results make an appointment with a certified aesthetician.

Microneedling can stimulate collagen production and boosting the production of this structural protein can help tighten skin and improve scarring and pore size.
